The Music Tour Fundraiser – Monday 10th October
On Monday, we had the Tour Choir Nashville Fundraiser. At this prestigious event, we sang three songs that are going to be performed on the trip, and these songs were ‘You Say’ by Lauren Daigle, where lead vocals were sung by our immensely talented Music Captain, Yesim (U6th), ‘Love Story’ by Taylor Swift with a solo by me(!), and ‘Happy Day’, one of the students’ firm favourites. Furthermore, we were very lucky to be able to enjoy a live performance of ‘The Wizard & I‘ sung by West End actress, Rebecca Botterill.
Then there was the raffle. Many prizes were won by parents and students alike and I think that everyone had a lot of fun, waiting to see if their number would be called. Finally we had the auction. In this part of the fundraiser, we saw people battling against each other, to see who would be the highest bidder, and there were some great prizes for some very lucky winners. The prizes included, but were not limited to, a bottle of House of Lords Champagne, Afternoon Tea at the Mandarin Oriental, a Fitbit and a tour of Parliament with tea!
All together the evening was an immensely enjoyable experience for everyone. Students and teachers worked tremendously hard and it was just great to see so many people coming out to support our choir. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens on the trip! A huge ‘thank you’ to Miss Calderwood and Mr Rodriguez for organising such a brilliant evening.

Flight Day!
On the first day of the trip, we came into school, suitcase in tow, ready for an eight-hour flight! Everyone met in the library to get into the coach – we were off! We went to Heathrow for the flight and had to wait one hour for check-in and security which was all rather stressful, but once we got past security, everything got much calmer. We went around the airport shops to buy snacks for the flight, and anything else we required. During the flight, some started watching films on the TVs in front of us, and others decided to nap the entire flight! But, whatever they chose, we were all comfortable and had a great flight. When we disembarked the flight, we went straight to the hotel, feeling jet-lagged, and hungry, however we had pizza and soft drinks waiting for us! After everyone had finished, we got our keycards and headed up to our rooms and went to sleep.
