On Friday 19th May our long awaited Strictly Headers event took place at Rosslyn Park FC in aid of the charity Play it Forward. We started the afternoon with girls’ football teams from a range of schools competing in the knock out rounds of our football competition. The winners were as follows;
KS2: Pembridge Hall School
KS3: More House School and Bishop Challenor School (tied)
KS4: Francis Holland, Regents Park
KS5: St Teresa’s, Effingham
It was then time for our determined Heads and Senior Leaders to go boot-to-boot in a gripping match which saw spectators intensely cheering on the sidelines. The 5-a-side match officiated by our very own Head of Sports Ms Phelps was a demonstration of courage and determination by our two teams, Team Amaka and Team Isubilo.
Congratulations to Ms Hagerty and Team Amaka for their victorious win!
We were then introduced to Oliver from Play It Forward who showed us a video from the girls in Zambia. We ended the evening with presentations and an auction of which all proceeds went to Play it Forward.
A big thank you to everyone that helped put the event together to make the evening a huge success and thank you to all our parents and friends who came to support. Finally, thank you to all the schools that took part and helped to raise money for a fantastic charity.
“On Friday we celebrated the Strictly Headers Tournament. The event was attended by five schools: Pembridge Hall, Bishop Challoner school, St Teresa’s, Francis Holland and of course More House. We watched the pupil matches take place and everyone played brilliantly, the atmosphere was amazing. After the pupil matches we all gathered pitch side to spectate the Heads Final, Ms Hagerty and Mrs Lee completed many long hours of intense training and were ready to give their all when the first whistle went. Ms Hagerty played in goal for the first half and saved many goals from the opposing team, Ms Lee used many defending tactics to gain possession. Together they inspired all of the pupils at More House. Watching the match was extremely enjoyable, all of us were in high spirits and it was so amazing seeing everybody coming together to raise awareness for the charity ‘Play it Forward’ who promote such an important cause. We finished the event with presentations and everyone left with a smile on their faces”.
