The whole community gathered on Wednesday for the highly anticipated Addams Family Musical and the students wowed the audience with their skill, commitment and energy. They sounded incredible, backed up by Miss Calderwood, Mr Roriguez and an orchestra of talented musicians, and they looked the part with dramatic make-up designed and applied by Tilly (Y10), Matilde (Y9) and Mia (Y9). The set created atmosphere, made by Miss Skinner, Miss Yate and some hard working art students, as our stage managers Elisa (Y11), Ana (Y10) and Miss Williams rushed around organising props and set changes, and the candlelit aesthetic was beautifully designed by Nadia (Y13) our Art Director. The lighting and projections were expertly managed by Lina (Y13) and Ilse (Y13) and the cast were encouraged and nurtured by Miss Gallagher and Miss Belgout. A special thank you to Miss Xiberras for her tireless  efforts behind the scenes on marketing, ticketing and logistics. They say it ‘takes a village’ and wow, what a village we are lucky to have!

The cast each gave outstanding performances wowing the audience with their comic timing, dance skills and impressive vocals. It is always such a joy when staff approach me after a show and say ‘Wow, I didn’t realise so and so could sing and act like that!’, that’s why we do these things, because of the platform it gives for girls to show us all who they really are. They had the audience laughing all night long with their stellar performances and I have no doubt that some of them will have future careers on stage!
Congratulations to our More House Superstars!!!

Miss O’Callaghan, Director

“I loved the play! The preparations, the make-up, the costumes, the MUSIC! It was all such a thrill to be involved in the play. I have made so many memories on set and off-set. All the girls were lovely…you made it so much fun.!”

Darcey (Y9), Featured Ancestor

“I found the musical really fun and I really enjoyed working together as a team to make this show FANTASTIC! Whenever some prop emergency happens the backstage crew are always there to help us or when someone forgot their lines they would either try getting prompts or try and make it up themselves! Since October, the process of us working as a team and practicing Drama and Music together with help from the Music department and the Drama department has been very enjoyable, it was just so fun to act, sing and dance at the same time. As well as that I have conquered my fear of going on stage and performing and calming down so I don’t get too stressed. I know that working together is VERY crucial in musical theatre and that even if you are scared, you can shine to the light and be amazing! Also, what is very important in musicals and plays is that if you don’t get as big of a part as you expected, you are important, without you it wouldn’t make sense and you can do your best and work hard.”

Amanda (Y8), Pugsley’s Inner Voice

“For those who watched the play, I’m sure you would have seen how much passion and love our cast put into the production, but what you didn’t see were the many many rehearsals and hours spent running lines, staging scenes and laughing when things went slightly awry, and through all of this our teachers stood by us, encouraging us, going the extra mile to make sure we felt prepared and that we had an amazing play to put on for all of you.  I can still feel the heat of the stage lights now, and being on a stage with our dream cast and crew for my final performance meant the world to me, thank you to everyone involved, and those who cheered us on along the way, it means more than you know.”
