More House was delighted to lead on Strictly Headers 2023, in partnership with nine other schools across both the independent and state sectors, in aid of Zambia-based charity Play it Forward.
Play it Forward is a charity that provides opportunities through education and health activities for young people in Southern Zambia. They use a ‘sport for development’ approach as a means to achieving sustainable social change. Their support, on and off the pitch, ensures that young people emerge from their programmes with new skills to succeed in school, the workforce and life.
The event was made up of a girls’ football tournament on 4th May, followed by finals and a Heads’ match which took place at Rosslyn Park FC on 19th May. In the lead up to the event, students from the ten schools took part in an Online Youth Seminar with the girls from Play it Forward, in which the young people shared their love of football, music and culture.
Funds for the charity were raised by participating schools’ fundraising events as well as an auction on the night. Our Year 9 Duke of Edinburgh participants coordinated a collection of preloved football kits and boots, which have been shipped off to the young people at Play it Forward.
We would like to thank our sponsors for supporting the event.
